Pet of the Month Is It Someone You Know?
|
Be Kind to Animals The American Humane Association first established Be Kind to Animals Week in 1915. Here are several ways you can help make the world a nicer place by being kind to animals (and we thank the AHA for their suggestions!): 1. Make sure your pets receive their annual exams and vaccines on time. Keep up to date on their heartworm preventatives. 2. Try to bring your cats inside -- permanently! Indoor cats live longer, healthier, safer lives. 3. Does your dog spend the majority of his/her time on a leash in the backyard? Start to spend quality time with your dog on a daily basis and give them a new "leash on life." Remember not to leave your dog alone in a car, especially during the hot summer months. 4. If your
companion animal is not spayed or neutered, make an appointment to have that done!
214-547-8387 5. Thinking about adding a new member to the family? Use this week to research different types of companion animals to see which animal fits best with your lifestyle. Then find a rescue or shelter and save a life! 6. Are you aware of an animal abuse situation, but have not reported it? Now is the time to do it. 7. Pick up litter that could harm wildlife. 8. Humans are animals too. Practice a random act of kindness.
